Halloween…?
The Pufflings tilted their heads in unison at the unfamiliar word spoken by the Seekers.
It all began with an ordinary conversation,
when one Seeker told them about a festival from the human world called Halloween—a night when people decorated their homes with pumpkins and lanterns, and children dressed up as ghosts, witches, monsters, or anything else they wanted to be, then went from house to house and said...
“Trick or Treat!”
And then what happens!?
The homeowner gets to decide. If they choose Treat, they give you candy.
The Pufflings’ eyes immediately lit up.
So all we have to do is dress up and ask, and we get candy!?
What about the Trick part?
If they don’t give you any candy... then you get to play a trick on them.
Silence filled the room for a brief moment.
Then the Pufflings erupted in even greater excitement.
Wait, There’s really a festival this awesome!?
Pretty much. Sounds fun, right?
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Hey, Seeker! Can we have a festival like that here too!?
Hmm... here? In the Puff Kingdom?
Pleeeeeeeeease!!!!
The Pufflings’ pleading cries echoed throughout the room.
All right, all right. I guess we can try having one here.
That was all it took for the Pufflings to burst into celebration, thrilled at the thought of experiencing Halloween for the very first time.
Free candy, and if they didn’t get any, they could still play a trick on the homeowner!
No matter how puff’s looked, this was clearly a win-win situation!
There was absolutely no reason not to take part in such a wonderful festival.
However, the Seeker gave an awkward little laugh as they suddenly remembered one very important detail they had forgotten to mention.
Ah...But
Usually, Trick or Treat is just for kids.
Ehhhhh.........…….?
So the grown-up Puffs probably can’t do it.
The Pufflings froze, staring blankly as if someone had just snatched candy straight out of their paws.
And then, a second later—
WHYYYYY——!!
Their protests thundered throughout the entire guild.
Some Puffs immediately declared that they were only twenty years old, so they were obviously still children! Others argued that they were smaller than human children anyway, so surely that should count too!
The commotion grew so loud that the Guildmaster eventually came out to see what was going on.
But the moment he arrived, the Pufflings swarmed around him, all trying to explain at once until hardly a single word could be understood.
Wait, wait... One at a time.
After enduring the noisy chatter for a while, the Guildmaster finally managed to piece together the whole situation.
He looked at the Pufflings staring up at him with pleading eyes and let out a long sigh.
All right, all right.
The Pufflings immediately fell silent.
It’s not like there are many children in the Puff Kingdom to begin with.
He adjusted his glasses slightly before making his declaration.
Then for tonight, every Puff gets to be a kid.
Go and have fun!
YAAAAAY——!!
The cheering was so loud that the guildhall roof practically shook.
As soon as they got permission, the Puffs gathered into excited little groups, chattering about what to dress up as for Halloween that night.
If it was Halloween...
Then surely it should be something scary, right?
I’m going to be a three-headed dog!
I’ll be a man-eating plant!
Then I’ll turn into a giant insect!
My Seeker is the scariest when they’re angry...

The Puffs immediately began casting spells and trying to transform themselves,
But the Seekers hurried over and stopped them.
Wait!
No transformation magic!
Ehh——!?
The Puffs turned around in confusion.
Why not!?
Because then it wouldn’t really count as dressing up!
Magic makes things a little too easy, you know.
One of the Seekers picked up a scrap of cloth and smiled at the Puffs.
The real fun of Halloween is coming up with a costume and making it yourself!
Which meant...
Tonight, the Puffs would have to make actual costumes!
And soon, the entire town was bustling with activity.
Scraps of fabric, paper, paint, ribbons, boxes, string, and all kinds of decorations were brought out. The Seekers went from adventurers to makeshift tailors, happily helping their Puff partners put together their Halloween costumes.
And of course, when it came to building strange things with your own two hands...
There was probably no one more excited than Alley, the Tech Master.
